 The Monsters Next Door is published online bi-monthly. *Your story must feature a character or situation that could be described as "monstrous". I don't require claws or fangs. Serial killers are human beings, but wouldn't you agree they are monsters? *Classic characters welcome (vampires, demons, ghosts, werewolves, ghouls, zombies) but please make the plot original! We all know that the classic vampire hates crucifixes and feeds daily. Make yours different! *Submissions should be sent in an attached .rtf or .doc file to: MonsterEditor@yahoo.com *Submissions pasted in the body of an email will be considered, but you should keep in mind that how it looks in your "sent" box may not be how it appears in my inbox. Bad formatting makes a bad impression. *Word length: 500 - 10,000 words. Please no more than 10,000 words! *I don't require flawless manuscript formatting. Just use standard fonts--Arial, Times New Roman, Courier New-- 11 or 12 point. Please indent (Tab button) at the beginning of each paragraph and put a space between paragraphs. Simultaneous submissions are fine. Just let me know if your story gets accepted somewhere else. Reprints are welcome! If you send a reprint, please make sure the rights are yours again.  Artists: I cannot pay for contributions, but I can help gain interest in your work. With any art submission, I would be happy to provide a link to your website. Have more than one website you want advertised? No problem! Send me the addresses and I'll link away! Banners are fine. I have no problem displaying banners on the site to help my artists gain some well-deserved attention. If you have photos with a dark element you wish to submit, I would be pleased to append the proper copyright symbol and name (tastefully small, but there none-the-less). With any submission to my "Dark Photography" section, I will gladly include a short biography as well.  Send up to four poems at a time, any length.
